A festive gala concert on the Potemkin Stairs concludes the solemn celebration of the city day in Odessa. The city celebrates its 227th anniversary.
Traditionally, the name of the child was born, who was first born on this day in one of maternity hospitals of Odessa. She was a girl Alexander, who was born at 00 hours 02 minutes in the city maternity hospital №4. The weight of the young Odessa woman at birth was 2960 grams, height - 50 centimeters.
The official part of the holiday started in the morning on Duma Square. The solemn raising of the city flag took place here.
The ceremony was attended by the city and regional authorities, honorary citizens of Odessa, deputies of the Odessa City Council, official delegations and honorary guests from 32 countries and 7 cities of Ukraine.
All Odessa residents and participants of the solemn ceremony were greeted by Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov. "Today our city is 227 years old. Time goes by, generations change, Odessa develops and becomes more and more attractive. Our principles remain unchanged - mutual respect, tolerance, hospitality and the desire to live in peace. But we are changing the space around us. This is evidenced by social and infrastructure projects - from family clinics to the new runway. Every day we see the result of hard work. And these are our common achievements. I sincerely congratulate everyone on the holiday, I wish peace and prosperity to every Odessa family! "- said the mayor of Odessa.
A signpost of the partner city of Mombasa (Republic of Kenya) was unveiled at the memorial to the twin cities of Odessa near the City Hall.
Alley of Stars of Odessa has been replenished with three names. They became famous Odessa - writer and poet Semyon Lipkin, a classic of the Odessa school of painting Yuri Egorov, and poet and playwright Anna Yablonskaya.
The identities near the monuments to famous Odessans continued. Honorary citizens of the city solemnly laid flowers to the monuments to Joseph de Ribas, the founders of Odessa and Duke de Richelieu.
And a sculpture was unveiled near Odessa airport, which is a reflection of the sounds of the city. Thus, Odessa became part of the All-Ukrainian project of the same name, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
Famous Odesa residents Oleksiy Botvinov, Mykhailo Reva, Dayana Yastremska and Borys Barsky helped to decide on the sounds of the city for the sculpture. They shared their feelings, impressions and the most important moments of their lives with the project team. Attendees noted that the art object simultaneously resembles a sea wave, ship propellers, a seashell and a gramophone.
