Ukraine Has No Other Choice: Zelensky on Negotiations with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine had no other choice but to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia.

He said this in an interview with Bild, adding that only the Russian president decides when the war will end.

"Today Ukraine has no other choice but to sit down at the negotiating table. No other force in Russia is able to stop this war. He (Putin) alone decides when this war will end," Zelensky said.

Earlier, Zelensky reported that he was ready to meet with Putin face to face and named priority issues: stopping the war, the occupied Crimea and Donbas.

Zelensky also said that there were things that he and Putin should try to agree on.

As previously reported in the media, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin were generally positive about the idea of meeting in person.

Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak stressed that a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin is inevitable to end the war, documents for such a meeting are being prepared at the negotiations of the delegation.
