In France, a fire at a military training ground is being extinguished for the fourth day, there are victims of a shell explosion

In the south of France, the fight against the fire at the military range, which broke out as a result of artillery firing on Saturday, continues.

This is reported by BFMTV.

The range is located on the Kanzhue limestone plateau in the southwest of the country in the Var department on the Mediterranean coast and is one of the largest in Western Europe, occupying 35,000 hectares. The fire began during artillery firing on the morning of June 18. There is no threat to populated areas as the range is located dozens of kilometers from the nearest.

On Monday evening, a shell exploded near the firefighters. There were 28 people in the area. One firefighter was slightly injured - in a car whose windshield was pierced by shrapnel. The others are experiencing hearing problems after the explosion.

The fire destroyed about 1,000 hectares of land. More than 300 people were involved in fighting the fire.

The military prosecutor's office opened an investigation into the fire.

As is known, during the second half of the week a large part of the country suffered from abnormal heat, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in places. The Department of War was not in the red zone of the warning, but many of its districts are suffering from drought.
