Start of energy visa-free: Ukraine started exporting electricity to Romania

The energy visa-free visa with the EU is already yielding results - Ukraine has begun exporting electricity to Romania, and on the first day alone it earned UAH 10 million. This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

"Just three months after receiving an energy visa-free visa, the long-awaited export of Ukrainian electricity to Europe has begun! Today from 1 a.m. such exports went in the direction of Romania. The initial volume is 100 MW," noted Shmygal in Telegram.

According to the head of the government, the energy visa-free visa with the EU, which began in March this year, gives its very foreseeable and practical result.

"Just for the first day of the state enterprise "Ukrenergo" earned 10 million UAH on the sale of access to the interstate cross-section. The potential to export Ukrainian electricity to Europe is up to 2.5 GW. Under this scenario, the state could receive more than 70 billion UAH a year" - said Prime Minister.

The Ministry of Energy announced that Ukraine would start a commercial exchange of electricity with the EU starting June 30.
