Germany is ready to provide Ukraine with long-term security guarantees. Now their details are being discussed within the G7.

This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is answering questions from MPs in the Bundestag today.

Scholz noted that these guarantees may be similar to the provision of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty on collective defense of NATO, in the sense of automatic military assistance in the event of an attack on the country and stressed that they most likely must be adapted to "the specific situation.
