The Pope said that the doctor has for now forbidden him to go to Kyiv or Moscow due to problems with his knee. However, he guarantees that he is doing everything possible to end the war in Ukraine, being in constant contact with both presidents, CNN Portugal informs.

"The visit is up in the air. I still don't know. I'm talking to them. Tomorrow, for example, I have a phone conversation with President Zelensky. We'll see," said the pontiff, answering a question about his possible visit to Kyiv and Moscow.

Pope Francis admitted that the path to dialogue in connection with this war is "difficult", but assured that he will not make any trips at least until the trip to Kazakhstan, scheduled for September 13-15.

"I can't go out now because after the trip to Canada the recovery of the knee has slowed down a bit and the doctor has forbidden me. But I'm staying in touch by phone and doing what I can. And I'm asking everyone to do what they can. I'm accompanying my with pain and prayers, all I can. But the situation is really tragic," he said.

At the same time, the Pope said that several representatives of the Vatican have been in Kyiv since the beginning of the war, which is why his presence there is "strong".

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Holy See, Andrii Yurash, paid a visit to Pope Francis and invited him to Ukraine.
