Biden immediately signed the law, which includes $12 billion in aid to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden signed the law on continuing funding of the US government, which includes $12.4 billion in additional aid to Ukraine. This was reported by the White House website.

The message states that the law "provides appropriations to federal agencies for fiscal year 2023 (starts October 1) through December 16, 2022 to continue projects and activities of the federal government, and also includes additional appropriations to respond to the situation in Ukraine."

The law entered into force before the deadline, when the fiscal year ends in the US and, in the absence of approved funding, a shutdown is announced - a forced stoppage of the work of state institutions.
