The head of Germany's ruling party called on the industry to increase the pace of weapons production

Due to the lack of equipment for the Bundeswehr, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Lars Klingbeil, called on the German arms industry to increase production capacity at an accelerated pace.

The publication Spiegel writes about it.

Klingbeil said that it is necessary to get rid of the false impression that somewhere there are large stocks of personal equipment for soldiers or tanks.

According to him, if the German military-industrial complex, which has been increasingly reducing its capacities in recent years, cannot cope with this task, it will have to look for weapons abroad - in the USA or other NATO countries.

"It is clear that we need to equip the Bundeswehr quickly and well, and we have to work on this at full speed," Klingbeil said.

He noted that after Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24 and Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government announcement on February 27, he expected the industry to restore these capacities "with tremendous speed."

"But waiting and saying, let's first see what the policy offers us, is not the position with which we will now successfully reduce these deficits," the politician emphasized.
