The details of the CIA director's meeting with Naryshkin became known - Ukraine was not discussed

CIA director William Burns and his Russian colleague Sergei Naryshkin recently met in Turkey. The parties did not raise the issue of the war in Ukraine, but discussed the management of nuclear risks.

 CNN writes about it.

 Meeting of Burns and Naryshkin

 The meeting between the director of the CIA and the head of Russian intelligence took place on November 14 in Ankara.

 As one of the journalists noted then, the main issues of the meeting were:

 detained US citizens;

 nuclear risks.

 At the same time, it was noted that the director of the CIA "is not conducting any negotiations."

 Meeting details

 According to Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Russia Elizabeth Rood, the US has channels for risk management in relations with Russia. At the same time, the main issue discussed by the parties was nuclear risks.

 "Director Burns did not agree on anything and did not discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine," Rud added.

 It is noted that the USA has already sent Burns to meet with Naryshkin several times over the past year, using the former as a veteran of diplomacy and former US ambassador to Russia (2005-2008).

 Another topic for negotiations was the release of two US citizens who are currently imprisoned in Russia, namely Brittney Grinner and Paul Whelan.

 "The United States, as we have already said, put an important proposal on the table. We reacted to this proposal and offered alternatives. Unfortunately, the Russian Federation has not yet given a serious response to these proposals," Rud said.
