Turkey will hold talks with a Russian delegation in Ankara on Friday to agree on a more than 25% discount on Russian gas.

 This was reported by the Bloomberg agency with reference to high-ranking Turkish officials.

 Turkey wants the discount to apply to payments in 2023 and some earlier payments in 2022, government officials said on condition of anonymity.

 If Turkey cannot secure the discount at the desired level, it will seek to defer payments until 2024, government officials said, without elaborating.

 Last year, Russia supplied slightly less than half of the 59 billion cubic meters of gas imported by Turkey.

 President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey's total electricity bill for 2022 could reach $100 billion, double what it was last year.
