Yesterday, the Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian Mi-24 helicopter in the direction of Bakhmut

The National Guardsmen destroyed an enemy Mi-24 helicopter in the direction of Bakhmut with the help of the "Igla" portable anti-aircraft missile system.

This is reported by the National Guard of Ukraine.

The head of the air defense service of the 3rd operational brigade reported that the fire group of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division detected two air targets on the southeastern outskirts of Bakhmut on January 26 around 10:40.

"By calculating the MANPADS from the Igla-1, 2 missile launches were simultaneously fired at the Mi-24 helicopters. As a result of combat operations, one helicopter was neutralized, the second was damaged," he said.

One of the National Guardsmen said that the helicopter is capable of flying at low altitudes, which in the conditions of this area allows for a stealthy approach to the location of Ukrainian units.

"It can maneuver, inflicting constant blows on our troops in the most important areas with the use of missile and artillery weapons. That is why the detection and destruction of air targets of such a plan is effective during an all-out battle," said MANPADS gunner Anton.

Let's add that the Mi-24 is a Soviet multi-purpose attack helicopter and infantry combat support. It is one of the fastest attack helicopters in the world, designed to drop manpower and its fire support on the battlefield.

We will remind, on January 24, Ukrainian fighters destroyed three Russian Ka-52 helicopters in half an hour.

It should be noted that, according to the General Staff, since February 24, Ukrainian defenders have already destroyed 283 enemy helicopters.
