China is helping a Russian company to produce body armor for the Russian army

The Russian body armor manufacturer imports Chinese components for its body armor, some of which are used on the battlefield in Ukraine.

 This is reported by Politico.

In 2022, several Chinese companies, including one linked to the government in Beijing, sent parts for the production of KLASS body armor. They were received by a Russian manufacturer with ties to the Russian Guard and the country's law enforcement agencies.

It is not yet clear whether the Russian Klass military vests are widely used, but this is the first confirmation that the Russian army in Ukraine uses protective equipment with Chinese components. KLASS has imported parts for the production of its body armor from China several times in 2022, including in November and December from several Chinese companies. These parts included aramid fibers - the same as in a Kevlar vest. The military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine found such a bulletproof vest after a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region.

"New information emphasizes that Russia continues to rely on China's help in supporting its military aggression against Ukraine, despite pressure from Western countries," the article says.

Politico also writes that this raises the question of how the US plans to deal with the issue of dual-use items with China. A representative of the National Security Council, Adrienne Watson, reported that the United States has introduced serious export control sanctions against companies that contributed to the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine. The US representative also said that they are not too concerned about the appearance of these dual-purpose items on the battlefield, since Russia has long been importing such technologies from China.
