Russia's "big" offensive was a "failure", but it has the strength to fight for a few more years - MIA

The "big" offensive announced by the Russians turned out to be a "flop". However, the aggressor country still has the resources to wage war in 2023 and possibly 2024.

Andriy Chernyak, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, told about this in an interview with "Ukrinform".

"Currently, we see that the Russian army has proven to be incapable of conducting strategic offensive operations. The so-called "big offensive" announced by propaganda for several months turned out to be a "bust" for Russia - they did not get any significant results," Chernyak said.

According to him, now the enemy is trying anything to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. However, the Ukrainian forces, in turn, plan and carry out effective countermeasures that would cause maximum losses to the occupiers.

"If we talk about an inertial scenario, i.e. one where the current intensity of hostilities is maintained, the available resources of the Russians will be enough to wage a conventional war in 2023 and, possibly, in 2024," Chernyak believes.

However, he noted that if the sanctions pressure is increased, the critical difficulties in the aggressor state will begin earlier.

We will remind, earlier the representative of the MIA of the Ministry of Defense, Vadym Skibitsky, said that Russia could wage war as early as 2023 and, at most, 2024.
