In China, the possibility of talks between Xi Jinping and Zelenskyі was allowed

The possibility of a telephone conversation or meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the President of China Xi Jinping is not excluded. This was stated by China's ambassador to the EU, Fu Cun, in a comment to the Financial Times.

China's ambassador to the EU, Fu Cun, said that "no possibility is excluded" regarding a potential phone conversation or meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, noting that high-ranking officials have been in contact with their Ukrainian counterparts.

The ambassador also stated that it was a mistake on the part of the EU to connect the war in Ukraine with relations with China.

"I don't think it's a rational approach to connect relations with China exclusively with the Ukrainian crisis," he said, adding that it is necessary to respect Russia's "legitimate security interests": "It's not as black and white as some people think ".

But he argued that there was "room for negotiations and even for China and the EU to join our efforts in promoting peace."

The day before, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that China's attitude to Putin's war against Ukraine will be of vital importance for the formation of relations with the EU, and that Beijing must play its role in achieving a "just world".
