Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has expressed his readiness to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin if it helps to achieve peace in Ukraine. This was reported by Yle.


The President noted that Finland had to prepare for years for the fact that anything could happen from Russia.


He also expressed hope that the conflict in Ukraine would not turn into a long-term stagnation. According to Niinistö, the situation now has signs of turning into a positional war.
