British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps has assured that the UK will stand with Ukraine in the future, just as it has in the past and now. Shapps wrote about this in an article dedicated to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


"My message to you is simple: Great Britain stands with you. We stood with you in the immediate aftermath of Russia's unjustified invasion of Crimea in 2014, training your troops through the Orbital instructor program. We stood with you in 2022 after the Kremlin's tanks rolled into your land. We were the first European country to send you lethal military aid, battle tanks, and long-range missiles to help you drive Russia off your land. And just as we have stood with you in the past and now, we will stand with you in the future," the British Defense Secretary said.


Shapps noted that as we approach 2024, Putin still believes that the West, distracted by events elsewhere, will tire of his illegal war, but he is wrong.


"Because we will expand our training program on land - together with Romania, which will become the eleventh participant in our Interflex program. And because last month I announced a new large package of support for Ukraine worth more than £100 million," the British defense secretary argued.


He also informed that in addition to the £4.6 billion of support provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war, the UK will provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with air defense systems, bridge construction equipment and means for safe movement through minefields.
