Kyiv: Russia is trying to influence the Russian-language media in Latvia by spreading its propaganda through them.

The President of Latvia, Raimond Vejonis, said this in an interview with the German publication Spiegel Online.

Vejonis also expressed the need for a “reliable deterrent”, which will not allow Russia “once to attack another European country.”

He is also confident that Russia will try to influence the elections to the European Parliament, which will be held in the EU countries from 23 to 26 May 2019.

The President of Latvia stressed that the Democrats should be prepared for this.

We recall that the permanent representative of Latvia to the UN, Andrejs Pildegovics, called on Russia to release the illegally imprisoned Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko, and also to stop the prosecution of other political prisoners.
