Kiev: Through the super-powerful typhoon "Hagibis", which is approaching the central part of Japan in areas neighboring Tokyo, tens of thousands of residents were left without electricity.

The typhoon will approach the capital of Japan on the night from Saturday to Sunday, but it has already caused massive interruptions in railway and air traffic, the Kyodo agency reports.

In the city of Matida, which administratively belongs to the capital prefecture, more than 10 thousand houses remained without light, in Kanagawa Prefecture - 23 thousand. In Chiba Prefecture, which had previously suffered from a strong typhoon in September, 12,000 houses were left without light.

Recommendations for the evacuation received more than 200 thousand people. Meteorologists compare the typhoon to the fact that in 1958 killed more than 1,200 people.

Typhoon Hagibis is now moving at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Gusts of wind in its central part reach a speed of 65 meters per second.

Recall: in September, typhoon Faxai raged in Japan. Then at least two people died, another 40 were injured.
