Kiev: The New York Department of Financial Services (NY DFS) has launched an investigation on Apple Card claims, which offered various credit limits for men and women.

This was reported on November 10 by Bloomberg news agency. The investigation began with the complaint of businessman David Heinmeyer Hanson that the Apple Card gave him credit 20 times more than his wife. Despite the fact that the wife has the best credit indicators:

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak tweeted that the same thing happened with him and his wife, despite the fact that they did not have separate bank accounts or separate assets.

The financial regulator issued a statement saying that an investigation will be conducted to determine whether New York law is violated: "Any algorithm that intentionally or not leads to discriminatory treatment of women or any other class violates New York law".

Launched in August, the Apple Card is the first Goldman Sachs Group Inc. credit card.

To an appeal from Bloomberg, the investment bank said: "Our credit decisions are based on the creditworthiness of the client, and not on factors such as gender, race, age, sexual orientation".
