Kyiv: Israeli Ambassador Yoel Lyon said that in recent years there has been a rise in anti-Semitism in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, Ukrainians are trying to cover up their anti-Semitic message with the word "Zionism" (a political movement whose purpose is to unite and revive the Jewish people in their historical homeland - ed.)
At the same time, Lyon emphasized: “If postcards with Nazi symbols are sold next to the Maidan, you don’t need anyone to go and complain. The police themselves should automatically come there and deal with this as a manifestation of anti-Semitism. "
“If you follow the definition of IHRA (International Holocaust Alliance - Ed.), then yes, you have the rise of anti-Semitism in Ukraine. If people talk about the fact that a lot of Jews are doing business in Ukraine, this is anti-Semitism, this is an abnormal thing,” he said.
Earlier, Israeli Ambassador Yoel Lyon called on the Ukrainian authorities to stop anti-Semitism in Ukraine and "bring all those responsible to justice."
