Skopje: In late July and early August, large-scale forest fires began in the mountainous regions of Macedonia. Fires are raging nearby such populated areas as Terebovlya, Raste, Samokov, Drenovets, Slatina, Macedonia Brod, etc. Military, aviation, volunteers from local residents are involved in extinguishing fires. Macedonia also asked for international assistance. The Bulgarian government sent a military helicopter to Macedonia to fight the fire.
The work is complicated by high air temperature - about 40 degrees Celsius, strong wind, and dry weather.
In social networks, users share photos from extinguishing fires.
This is not the first case of forest fires on the Balkan Peninsula. In mid-July, large-scale fires spread to Montenegro. They were also helped by a Ukrainian airplane.
