"Fear and expect the worst": hackers attacked websites of Ukrainian ministries, portal "Dia" is disabled

On the night of January 13-14, hackers attacked a number of websites of Ukrainian ministries. As of 8:30 am, web pages of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Emergency Situations Ministry and the Cabinet of Ministers were down. In addition, the website of the "Action" and a number of other government agencies is inaccessible.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Hackers left some kind of "message" to Ukrainians after the hacking attempt. Most government portals are inaccessible, but the text of this letter remained on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko, specialists are already working on resuming the work of IT systems. This is being done by the SBU and the cyber police.

"As a result of a mass hacker attack, the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of other government agencies temporarily do not work. Sorry for the possible inconvenience," - wrote the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government asks citizens to use the official pages of the ministries in social networks and messengers, while the work to fix the malfunction continues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that a number of sites had been restored as of 10:00 a.m. Mobile application "Dia" also resumed its work. At the same time, the portal "Diya" shut down, as well as a number of other government websites.

"This is necessary to localize the problem and prevent the spread of the attack to other resources," the agency explained.

We shall remind you that earlier the U.S. media predicted that Russia could launch a cyber attack on power grids, the banking system and other critical components of Ukraine's economy and infrastructure.
