Zelensky responded to the petition to abolish the military registration for women

President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition to cancel the order of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to expand the list of specialties for women subject to military registration.

Zelensky turned to Defense Minister Aleksei Reznikov and asked him to consider "a significant clarification (reduction) of the list" and to develop a procedure for registering online so that women would not have to be present in person. He also urged to regulate the issue of medical examination during the registration.

The president instructed the minister of defense to address the issue of "balanced and socially acceptable approaches" to administrative responsibility, which now threatens women who will not register before the end of 2022.

The president's response said that the Defense Ministry's list of professions was "insufficiently substantiated and therefore too broad," and that no clear procedure for women to become registered had been formed.
