Hard not to be seen as a threat: Berbok about the 100,000-strong Russian army at Ukraine's borders

German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock commented on the concentration of over 100,000 Russian troops near the Ukrainian borders. According to her, it is difficult not to consider it as a threat. She said this during a briefing after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"It was hard not to 'see' the threat of 100,000 Russian soldiers on the border with Ukraine," Berbok said.

At the same time, she stressed the need for dialogue with the Russian Federation.

"It is important to get back to the negotiating table to prevent a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. We must find ways to revive the Normandy format. We are ready for a serious dialogue with Russia to improve security throughout Europe," Berbock said.

She noted that there are "serious and sometimes fundamental disagreements" between Germany and Russia, but there are "opportunities for further cooperation.
