Russia is not rejecting a potential meeting between Putin and Zelensky - Peskov

Russia is not rejecting a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and will be ready for it if it helps "to cut the Gordian knot" in eastern Ukraine. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this, TASS reported.

"As for Putin's meeting with Zelensky, no one refuses it a priori. If this meeting really helps to cut this knot in the situation in the southeast of the country, which has already become a Gordian knot, the Russian Federation will be ready to meet with anyone," he said.

At the same time, Peskov pointed out that in order to hold such a meeting, it is necessary to determine its ultimate goal.

"First we need to understand, to meet the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, with what purpose, on what issues and focusing on what result. This understanding has not yet matured," the Kremlin spokesman said.

Earlier, the official representative of the Turkish leader Ibrahim Kalin said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited Putin and Zelensky to "settle the differences" between the two countries. In his turn, Peskov pointed out that the dates of Putin's possible trip to Turkey have not been determined yet.
