EU leaders agreed to impose additional sanctions against Russia in the energy and transport sectors - head of the European Council

EU leaders decided Thursday on additional sanctions against Russia in the areas of energy, transport, European Council President Charles Michel tweeted.

 

"The European Council today agreed on further restrictive measures that will strongly affect Russia," the European Council said in a statement, the text of which Michel cited.

 

"These sanctions will affect the financial sector, energy, transport, dual-use goods. It is also about export restrictions, export financing, visa policy, additional inclusion of Russian individuals in the sanctions list, as well as - changes in the criteria for making this list," the document says.

 

It also says that the EU leaders call for urgent preparation of a package of sanctions against Belarus.
