The head of intelligence headed the headquarters for POWs

The head of the Ukrainian intelligence service, Kyrylo Budanov, has become head of the Coordinating Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners. He replaced Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk in this position.

About this tells the GUR of the MoD on its Facebook page.

"The head of the coordination staff for the treatment of prisoners of war was appointed the head of the CID of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine," the message says.

The corresponding decision was taken by the government approving it with resolution No. 257 of March 11, 2022.

As noted in the department, the main tasks of this headquarters are:

assistance in the implementation of measures aimed at ensuring the implementation of international legal obligations of Ukraine on the treatment of prisoners of war;

to promote coordination of activities of central and local executive authorities, other bodies, local self-government bodies, military formations formed in accordance with the laws, law enforcement agencies and public associations on the treatment of prisoners of war;

to determine the ways and means of solving the problematic issues of the treatment of prisoners of war.

We shall remind you that yesterday Iryna Vereshchuk said that the Ministry of Reintegration stopped dealing with the exchange of prisoners of war, and these functions were transferred to the General Directorate of Intelligence.
