The sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia includes a ban on the import of chemicals and high-tech goods into the country

The sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, agreed upon and prepared by European leaders, includes, among other things, a ban on exports of chemicals and high-tech goods to Russia, the French mission to the European Union reported.

"This sixth package significantly expands sanctions against Russia into new areas, including sanctions against members of the state security apparatus and the military linked in particular to the massacre in Bucha, industrial and technological enterprises linked to Russian aggression, oligarchs, subjects of Russian propaganda and their families," the mission said in a statement released Thursday on Twitter.

It specifies that the package includes a ban on oil imports from Russia by sea, which, combined with national decisions by Germany and Poland, will reduce Russian oil imports by 92 percent by the end of the year.

In addition, this decision is expected to be supplemented "as soon as possible" by a ban on oil imports from Russia by pipelines.

The office also specifies that the new sanctions package includes expanding bans on exports to Russia, including chemicals and high-tech goods, disconnecting three Russian banks, including Sberbank, and one Belarusian bank from the Swift system, banning services to the Russian oil sector, banning three Russian media involved in propaganda distribution, and banning consulting services to Russian operators.
