According to the newspaper, in his conversation with Putin, the Chinese president refused to condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine or recognize their invasion and "called for the solution of the problem through negotiations.

 

Xi Jinping also told the Russian president that all parties should work to resolve the situation in Ukraine "in a responsible manner," and said that China was ready to help resolve the problem.

 

"Each of the parties concerned should take a responsible stance, contributing to a proper resolution of the crisis in Ukraine. China is ready to continue its constructive role," the newspaper quoted the Chinese head as saying.
