At least 909 children suffered as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

At least 909 children suffered as a result of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation: 323 were killed and 586 wounded. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

 

"More than 909 children have suffered in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of June 20, 2022, the official number of child victims for the day has not changed - 323. The number of wounded has increased - 586," the report said.

 

As noted, these figures are inconclusive, because work is under way to identify the victims and those killed in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

 

Most of the children suffered in the Donetsk region - 302, Kharkiv region - 173, Kyiv region - 116, Chernihiv region - 68, Lugansk region - 54, Kherson region - 52, Mykolaiv region - 48, Zaporizhzhia region - 30, Sumy region - 17.

 

On June 19, an 8-year-old girl was wounded as a result of shelling by occupants of the city of Zheleznoe in Donetsk region.

 

On the same day, a detonated shell hit a pond where two children, aged 13 and 14, were swimming in Izyum district of Kharkiv region. The children received shrapnel wounds.

 

By bombing and shelling, the Russian army damaged 2,028 educational institutions, of which 209 were completely destroyed.

 

Mizintsev, head of Russia's national defense management center, said more than 1.9 million people, including more than 307,000 children, were forcibly removed from Ukraine to Russia.
