The German Bundeswehr has 350 Marder tanks in service. Fifty of them could be provided to Ukraine.

This was stated by the head of the defense committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Struck-Zimmermann, reports Spiegel.

"To put some of them, in our opinion of free Democrats, can and should be," she said.

Struck-Zimmermann said it was right to consult with French and U.S. partners on arms deliveries.

"But it would be good for Germany to say that we are going to start and ask others to follow our lead. We could also step forward without waiting for someone else to step forward first," she stressed.
