The war in Ukraine and subsequent measures in support of Kyiv was one of the main topics of the meeting between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

The leaders of the two countries discussed, in particular, the adoption of measures on the way to achieve energy independence of Europe, the problems of defense and strategic resources.

In addition, the politicians discussed the organization of the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Germany and France.

"Thank you very much for the invitation, dear Emmanuel Macron," Scholz wrote in French on Twitter. "Whether the G7 meeting in Elmau or the NATO summit or Paris, it is good that we continue to exchange views on the many important topics of the day," he added.

This meeting between Macron and Scholz in Paris is the second official event of its kind in the French capital since Olaf Scholz took over as German chancellor in December 2021.
