On Sunday, July 17, Lithuanian border guards on the border with Belarus deployed more than 80 migrants, trying to enter the country illegally - the most since the beginning of the year.
This is reported by LRT.
81 people tried to cross the Belarusian-Lithuanian border in unauthorized places. By comparison, on Wednesday there were 44 migrants turned around at the border, on Thursday - 35, on Friday - 16, and on Saturday no such attempts were noticed.
November 27, 2021, the most number of people was detained at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border - then 108 people tried to enter the country illegally.
The Frontier Service commented that so far this single case gives no reason to speak about a new wave of illegal migration through Belarus, but it is a "clear signal" that such scenarios may happen again.
In total, since the beginning of 2022, Lithuanian border guards have deployed 2,567 people at the border, while in 2021 - 8,106 people.
