French President Emmanuel Macron has declared that the country is experiencing the end of the "era of fortune". This is reported by Le Monde.

 "I think we're going through a tipping point or a big upheaval right now. First, because we're going through ... the end of what might seem like the end of an era of fortune," he said.

 Speaking about the war in Ukraine, Macron added that "our system, based on the freedom in which we are used to living, sometimes, when we need to defend it, can cause casualties."

 "This overview that I am giving - the end of affluence, the end of carefreeness, the end of speculation - is, after all, a turning point that we are going through and which can make our citizens feel very anxious," Macron said.
