The Prime Minister of Denmark has scheduled early elections for November 1

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday called early parliamentary elections for November 1.

 Reuters writes about it.

"We want a broad government with parties on both sides of the central political line," Frederiksen said in her speech.

The latest opinion polls show that the Social Democratic minority government of Frederiksen and the left-wing parties that support it, and the right-wing bloc led by the Conservative or Liberal parties, have almost equal chances of success.

Many political analysts had expected Frederiksen to make a statement on Wednesday to prevent a vote of no confidence in her administration by one of her allies.

Denmark is at the center of a global political crisis after two pipelines carrying gas from Russia to Europe via the Baltic Sea were damaged last week in what world leaders called an act of sabotage.

In Denmark, heads of government are free to call elections whenever they like, as long as they are held within four years of the previous one.
