Elon Musk proposed to make Taiwan a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China

In an interview with the Financial Times, Elon Musk suggested making Taiwan a special administrative region of China, following the example of Hong Kong and Macau.

In his opinion, China and Taiwan "will probably be able to conclude an agreement with even milder terms than in the case of Hong Kong."

These proposals, according to Musk, can reduce the risk of war over control of the island.

If there is a war, then, according to the businessman's estimates, the losses of the world economy would amount to about 30% of the planet's GDP.
