Fines for absenteeism by Georgian deputies will go to help the population of Turkey

The Parliament of Georgia has announced that all money withheld from deputies for absenteeism in December will be used to purchase humanitarian aid for Turkey, which suffered from a devastating earthquake, News-Georgia reports.

 

 Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili announced that he had sent a corresponding request to the Treasury Board. At the same time, Papuashvili called on all deputies and employees of the parliament to transfer money to a specially opened charity account for helping Turkey.

 

 The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey has reached 9,057, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today. The number of wounded exceeded 52 thousand. 6,444 buildings collapsed in the affected provinces.

 

 The Embassy of Turkey appealed for help to the residents of Georgia, announcing the collection of humanitarian aid: blankets, blankets, sleeping bags, warm clothes are needed - coats, raincoats, jackets, sweaters, gloves, scarves, socks; food products for long-term storage, for example, canned goods; baby food, diapers, hygiene products.
