The Prime Minister of Spain will convince the leader of China to support Ukraine - mass media

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will try to convince Chinese leader Xi Jinping to support Ukraine during his visit to Beijing.

 El Pais writes about it.

Sanchez arrived in China on March 31 and sees his visit as an opportunity to persuade China to take a more pro-European side, particularly regarding Russia's war against Ukraine.

He will probably try to convince the Chinese leader that the peace plan must demonstrate support for Ukraine, otherwise it will be ineffective.

According to the publication, Madrid considers Xi Jinping's position decisive in settling the war. "We have a lot of expectations, we think that this meeting with Xi Jinping is very important," the prime minister said on the plane on his way to China.

The publication notes that Sanchez also hopes to receive assurances from Xi Jinping that China will not transfer weapons to Russia.

Earlier, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that China's position on the war in Ukraine will be important for the formation of relations with the European Union.
