Slovakia asked Ukraine to withdraw its claim to the WTO

Ukraine promises to withdraw its claim to the World Trade Organization regarding grain at the request of Slovakia, according to the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kristína Juričková, teraz.sk reports.

Ministers of the two countries held talks yesterday, during which Bratislava asked Kyiv to withdraw its claim.

Juričková said: "The Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture promised that he would stop actions against Slovakia, namely both the complaint to the WTO and the ban on the import of Slovak agricultural products to Ukraine," Juricková said.

The ministers also agreed to create a grain trade system based on the issuance and control of licenses. Until this system is implemented, the Slovak embargo on Ukrainian grain will remain in effect.

As we reported earlier, Ukraine and Poland agreed to find a compromise solution to the issue of exports of Ukrainian agricultural products that would satisfy both sides.
