CSTO withdraws troops from Kazakhstan: date announced

The Collective Security Treaty Organization is withdrawing troops from Kazakhstan.President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the main mission has been successfully completed.

 

"The main mission of the CSTO peacekeeping forces has been successfully completed, in two days the phased withdrawal of the CSTO joint peacekeeping contingent will begin. The process of withdrawal of the contingent will take no more than ten days," he said.

 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan legally justified its request for assistance from the CSTO. According to the president, "professionals worked on the preparation of the seizure of power in Kazakhstan.
