The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in Kyiv met with Venediktova

On Wednesday, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan in Kyiv held a meeting with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova. The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation, the ICC press service wrote.

 

"ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan meets with Ukrainian Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova in Kiev and welcomes the active cooperation of the Ukrainian authorities in conducting independent investigations of the ICC," the press service said.

 

It is reported that during the meeting, Prosecutor Karim Khan and Venediktova "agreed that deepening interaction and further strengthening partnerships are crucial to ensuring accountability for international crimes committed in Ukraine."

 

According to the Justice Ministry, 42 countries have already appealed to the International Criminal Court in The Hague because of Russia's war crimes. Also separately there are about 10 countries which independently investigate Russian crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine, as well as within the framework of the Joint Investigation Group together with Ukrainian law enforcers and prosecutors.
