Russian army was planning an invasion of Belarus - intelligence

The Russian army was planning a military invasion of Belarus. This is evidenced by documents made public by Ukrainian military intelligence.

"The occupation of Belarus was planned under the pretext of avoiding the involvement of Russia "in the European continental area in a regional or large-scale war with NATO member states in the West," the report reads.

One of the evidence of Russia's preparations for military aggression against the neighboring state was a "Legend to the plan to regroup formations and military units of the 1st Tank Army in the area of the task," the reconnaissance officers noted.

As a reminder, earlier self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that someone is trying to "push" him "into the war in Ukraine.

Lukashenko had previously stated that he would support Russia in the event of aggression from Ukraine."

"I will never be on the side of the nationalist frenzy that is going on in Ukraine today, you know. I will do everything to make Ukraine ours. It's ours, Ukraine, the people there are ours. These are not emotions. These are my firm convictions. If we, God forbid, find ourselves, if Russia is facing aggression from Ukraine, we will be in a close bond with Russia - economically, legally, politically. And legally - that's the main thing," Lukashenko assured.
