Turkey is making great efforts to end the war started by the Russian Federation against Ukraine by protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine once and for all, and calls on international organizations and countries of the world to support Turkey's peace initiatives, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
"The conflict is intensifying, and we are making great efforts to end the war by protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine once and for all. And we would like to appeal to all international organizations and countries of the world to support Turkey's peaceful initiatives to settle this dispute once and for all. forever. We need a dignified way out of this crisis, and that is only possible through a diplomatic solution that is rational, just and enforceable," Erdogan said in a speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
The leader noted that as a result of great efforts made by Turkey together with the UN Secretary General, it was possible to export Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, finding its way to the rest of the world markets.
"The Istanbul Convention, which allowed these exports, is still very important, and over time exports are gaining momentum. This important agreement, concluded jointly with the UN, is one of the greatest achievements of the UN in recent decades. I think the international community has a resurgence confidence in the UN as a result of the Istanbul Convention, because the Istanbul Convention once again proves that negotiations can produce results, especially on issues of vital importance to all parties," Erdogan emphasized.
He drew attention to the fact that Turkey used a similar approach when it came to Zaporizhzhya NPP.
"The Ukrainian conflict has crossed the threshold of the seventh month. And we think that the war will never have a triumph, and as a result of a fair peace process, there will be no losers," Erdogan is confident.
It should be noted that before Erdoğan's speech at the UN General Assembly, Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported on a telephone conversation with the Turkish president.
According to the President of Ukraine, the conversation was about "urgent security issues". The president did not disclose other details of the negotiations.
