In October, annual inflation in the eurozone reached 10.7% for the first time in history, slightly more than analysts had predicted. This is reported by Politico based on a preliminary assessment by Eurostat.
The consumer price index rose to 10.7%, compared to 9.9% in September. The growth occurred mainly due to the prices of energy resources (in this category, the annual inflation was 41.9%, in September 40.7%).
Among the eurozone countries, inflation is most noticeable in the Baltic states (22.4% in Estonia, 22% in Lithuania, 21.8% in Latvia), the lowest - in Malta (7.5%) and Finland (8.3%).
The growth of the Eurozone economy in the third quarter is estimated at 0.2% compared to 0.8% in the second quarter.
