Poland will be fenced off from the Kaliningrad region with a fence and barbed wire

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said on Wednesday that in connection with the launch of flights from the Middle East and North Africa to Kaliningrad, he decided to take measures to strengthen security at the Polish border "by closing this border ".

 This is reported by Onet.

"I made a decision to build a temporary barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region," he said at a press conference.

According to him, the work starts today. The fence will consist of three rows of barbed wire three meters wide and 2.5 meters high, Blaszczak added.

According to the minister, "in parallel, work will be carried out on the installation of perimetry, that is, devices that will allow electronic surveillance of the border with the Kaliningrad region."

As Blaszczak assured, a fence will also be installed on the Polish side to protect animals. The work is expected to be short-lived. "We want the border to be tight. We are using the experience of last year," he said.

The general secretary of "Law and Justice" Krzysztof Sobolewski announced the construction of the barricade at the end of October. "We are ready. We have shown that the assault from Belarus did not bring the results that Putin and Lukashenko had hoped for," said Sobolevsky in an interview with "Polish Radio".

According to him, "we will have to strengthen our forces on the border with Kaliningrad and consider the possibility of building border fortifications similar to those on the Polish-Belarusian section."

He also assessed that the use of migrants by Russia and Belarus is part of the hybrid war that these countries are waging against the West.

At the beginning of October, Poland finally completed the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus. Its length is about 187 km, its height is 5.5 meters.

In January, Poland began building a fence on its border with Belarus to make illegal migration from Belarus more difficult.
