Ukraine hit Russian military airbases with drones - WP

Attacks on military airfields in the Kursk, Ryazan and Saratov regions of Russia were carried out by Ukraine. This was reported by a high-ranking official on condition of anonymity in a comment to the American publication The Washington Post.

"These were Ukrainian drones - very successful, very effective," the official said, adding that the Russians "sowed the seeds of anger and they will stir up a whirlwind."

On December 5, two Tu-95 aircraft were damaged as a result of a "drone attack" at the airbase in Engels, Saratov Region, Russia. RosZMI also wrote that a fuel tanker exploded at the airfield under cutting.

Ukraine has not officially claimed responsibility for these incidents and has not commented on its role in several explosions at strategically important Russian military facilities in recent months.

In particular, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that the explosions at Russian airfields were related to "smoking in unacceptable places."

Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that after the "cotton" at the Engels and Diaghilev airfields, the Russian command may relocate or disperse its aviation.
