Russia is afraid to use its latest planes in a war with Ukraine - British intelligence

Russia uses its latest fighter jets to launch missiles at Ukraine thousands of kilometers from the border. In Moscow, they are afraid to send them closer to the front line.

The British Ministry of Defense reported this on Twitter.

As noted in the summary, at least since June 2022, the Russian Air Force used the Su-57 FELON to carry out missions against Ukraine. These missions were limited to flights over the territory of Russia and the launch of long-range air-to-ground or air-to-air missiles over the territory of Ukraine.

According to British intelligence, the FELON is Russia's most advanced fifth-generation supersonic combat aircraft, which uses stealth technology and advanced avionics. The latest available images show five FELON aircraft parked at Aktyubinsk Air Base, home to the 929th Flight Center. Since this is the only known FELON base, these aircraft are likely to have been involved in operations against Ukraine.

"Russia likely prioritizes avoiding the reputational damage, reduced export prospects, and compromise of secret technology that could result from the loss of FELON through Ukraine. This is a symptom that Russia remains risk-averse , using its air force in the war," the British Ministry of Defense emphasizes.

Earlier, British intelligence named the reasons for the losses of Russian aircraft in the war with Ukraine.
