Great Britain announced new military aid to Ukraine

Great Britain will send more than 200 units of armored vehicles to Ukraine in addition to 14 Challenger 2 tanks. This was announced by the head of the Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom, James Cleverley, at a joint press conference with his Canadian counterpart, Melanie Jolie.

"Great Britain has decided to go further and faster in helping Ukraine and supply our friends with Challenger 2 main battle tanks, heavy artillery and more than 200 pieces of other armored vehicles," Cleverley said.

Both German and American media reported that Berlin would not agree to provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks unless Washington made a similar decision, but Kyiv received a number of other armored vehicles.

Britain last weekend pledged to provide Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, becoming the first country to announce the provision of Western heavy tanks to Kyiv.

Last week, Germany and the United States said they would provide Bradley and Marder armored vehicles respectively, while France also pledged to provide AMX-10 RC light tanks.
