Two students were fatally wounded Monday afternoon at a school in Des Moines, Iowa, that specializes in educating youth from troubled families and has close ties to the police, writes NBC News.

 Officers who responded to the call found two students and an adult school employee injured, Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said. The condition of the injured employee was determined to be stable.

 "There was nothing accidental about it. It was definitely a targeted incident, Parizek said.

 "As for the motive, that is something we will try to find out," he added.

 Witnesses provided police with a description of the fleeing vehicle, and officers tracked it down, Paris said. It is noted that the car was stopped 3 km from the school, and two people immediately surrendered, and the third ran away.

 According to Paris, a service dog helped the police to detain the third person.

 "All three potential suspects are in custody and are currently being questioned by detectives," Paris said.
