Power outage in Odesa: due to the accident, a headquarters is created, generators and equipment are brought to the city

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced that he instructed at an extraordinary meeting of the government to form a 24-hour government headquarters headed by the Minister of Energy due to a technological accident at one of the high-voltage substations of the Odesa region.

 

 Shmyhal reminded that today in Odesa there was a technological accident at one of the high-voltage substations, repeatedly damaged as a result of Russian attacks. Emergency shutdowns have been applied in Odesa and nearby areas.

 

 "The situation is complicated, the scale of the accident is significant, it is impossible to quickly restore power supply, in particular to critical infrastructure. At an extraordinary meeting of the government, he instructed to form a 24-hour government headquarters headed by the Minister of Energy, with the participation of at. the Minister of Internal Affairs, the heads of the State Emergency Service and OVA, the head of Ukrenergo, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and other ministries and departments," wrote Shmyhal in Telegram.

 

 He noted that now the main goal is to restore critical infrastructure and multi-apartment buildings, the heating of which depends on electricity supply.

 

 "I ordered all powerful generators available at the Ministry of Energy to be brought to Odesa within a day. Also, a gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 25 MW, provided by our partners from the USA, should be transported to the city. He also tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to turn to Turkey for additional support in the form of power plant ships," Shmyhal said.

 

 Shmyhal emphasized that all Points of Invincibility should work 24 hours a day in Odesa.

 

 "In order to coordinate the work, the Minister of Energy and the head of Ukrenergo went to the city," he added.
